trying to work out the filter flow rate for my tropical fish tank, external filter?
I have worked out that it takes 18.7 seconds to filter water out 1/2 a litre. What does this work out to be in litres per hour.
The manufacturer states it does 500 litres/hour
Just i feel the filter is not working as much as it should??????
I'm still saying you have a blockage in the pipes.
The math is 500/60 = 8.333 litres/minute
8333ml/60 = 138.883 millilitres/second
138.883X18.7 = 2.59 litres
That agrees with answer one's math.
So it's discharging a fifth of it's correct output, give or take a millilitre or 10
