Where can I park near central park in New York?
My boyfriend wants to go for a Saturday day trip to New York, specificially Central Park to see the Christmas tree. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on where I can park that is within walking distance of Central Park that will have open spaces on a Saturday. Also, what would be the best time to arrive in New York on a Saturday, to maybe beat some traffic. Thanks!
do not even try to bring a car into Manhattan-ever but
especially this time of year
there are lots of parking garages but they can run you $10-18 an hour
the city is officially in a gridlock alert
you may find a spot Eventually but you do not want to spend your time circling looking for a space
most of the residential streets are clogged with the few residents that own cars waiting hours for someone to pull out
the metered parking is for 1 hour only
the police patrol to chalk your tires to see if you are there longer than that even if you feed the meter
and the tree is in Rockefeller center not central park
quite a hike from the park
if the weather is bad it will be even worse and the city will be packed with tourists and shoppers especially near the tree
have fun but PLEASE and trust me on this
TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
you want to beat the traffic plan to see the tree before 7a.m. if you drive
