THE peacock is ONE of the SHOWIEST of all birds because of it's LARGE size and BEAUTIFUl feathers. the BEST KNOWN species is the INDIAN peafowl. The MALE is almost as LARGE as a turkey. He has a LONG train of greenish feathers marked with BOLD spots that look like eyes. He has a metallic,greenish-blueish neck and purplish blue underparts.
During courtship, the male bird spreads its tran into a GORGEOUS fan as he STRUTS SlOWLY in FRONT of the female. The female bird is SMALLER and LESS VIVIDLY COLORED than the male.

Indian peafowl are found in the countries of India and Sr.Lanka. These birds eat frogs insects and snails as well as JUICY grasses and bulbs. The green "jungle peafowl" can be found in Malaysia , Indonesia and Myanmar.
