anyone know where to find custom print ultimate frisbees on a low scale? like 10 or less?
i am looking for about 10 discs with a different name on each one. they are going to be groomsmen gifts for my wedding. I have been looking online but it seems that all services are for mass produced (100+) and all one logo. Any help with this would be great. Thanks so much.
I'm sorry to say I've never heard of custom printed one-off Ultimate discs. I've been involved in ordering custom discs before, but always with the same design, and always at least 100 discs (usually more). I've even seen wedding "party-favor" discs (all the same design, of course).
It seems what you need are 10 blank discs (that in itself is an unusual order, I think), and someone who can print onto plastic so that it's permanent (and also doesn't damage the discs).
For blank discs, I can only think of going to the source - Discraft - and seeing if they'll sell you 10 without any design on them. Actually, get a few extra in case of any printing mess-ups.
Permanent printing onto plastic might be the trickier thing to figure out. Disc designs are typically "hot stamped" onto frisbees. Like silk screen printing, there are plates that need to be set up for each stamp (color). Therefore, it would be very labor intensive to have them create a new stamp for each of your 10 buddies in your wedding party. It'd be prohibitively expensive for you.
So I suspect that what you need is an artist or designer who can print or transfer text/design onto plastic. If you've ever made plastic models as a kid (or adult), the enamel paint that's used to paint those things do well on plastic. I'm not sure how vulnerable to scratching it is though. I know that there are several types of screen printing inks - there must be some that work well on plastic (probably something along the lines of enamel paint). If you printed all the names out on a single screen, someone printing by hand could (carefully) screen each name separately. I know there are little do-it-yourself screen printing kits for sale at arts/crafts stores (web sites), but those are geared primarily for printing onto shirts, which can be done with water-based paints. Plastic will require a paint/ink that's a bit more. . . flammable

If you don't care about changing the flight characteristics of the disc, then of course you can consider more obtrusive options such as stickers, dimensional letters (think flat plastic letters), and use an industrial adhesive that would bond the plastic letters to the disc.
