where is the best place to live in North Carolina?
I currently live in Pennsylvania and I am looking to move to a town in North Carolina that is near the beach (about 2 hrs away) and has opportunities for teachers and diesel mechanics. I have only ever been to NC on vacations so I am unfamiliar with the smaller rural towns I would be interested in.
Stay away from the Outer Banks area its a nice vacation spot but there is nothing for residents and it completely closes down after September. Charlotte is a very nice city but I'm pretty sure its farther then 2 hours from the beach. I've heard Wilmington is really nice so I'd say check that area out. However, if you don't completely have your heart set on NC, I say look into South Carolina. Everything there is beautiful and not quite as "country" as NC.
