Pls help me with optic fiber core diameter and the wavelength ?
Is there anything like that if the wavelength of the light is larger than the core diameter of an optic fiber, then the light cant pass through the fiber ? To be simple, can a light of wavelength of 1000 nm can pass through an optic fiber with core diameter of just 600nm ? Is there any relation between this allowing wavelength parameter and the core diameter of the fiber ?
Dude! The core of a fiber optic cable is measured in micrometers (8 um for instance) and it has no relationship with the wavelength used in the fiber. The light traveling through fibers with different core sizes will travel different distances depending on the diameter of the core but it WILL travel through the fiber. By the way, depending on the diameter of the core the fiber will be "singlemode" or "multimode" and like I said before, no matter the size of the core, the light will pass through the fiber.
